Indonesian Immigration deported 2 British foreigners, Dena Elsaid Omar (39) and Merlin (32), who had escape on their way to the hotel where they supposed to quarantine after arrive in Indonesia.
Kapolres Soekarno-Hatta Airport (Soetta) Kombes Adi Ferdian Saputra said, Dena and Merlin were aiming to go to Bali.Both of them carry visiting visas with sponsors from the Bali Professional Photographer community.
“They are foreigners from England and based on immigration data, the person concerned has a visa and will do work or profession related to photography so that he can enter Indonesia in connection with the visa. The goal is to Bali,” Adi said during a press conference at the Police Headquarters of Soetta Airport, Tangerang City, Friday (21/5/2021).
Separately, the Head of Criminal Investigation Unit for Soetta Airport Police, Commissioner Alexander Yurikho, confirmed that Dena and Merlin were photographers. Previously, Dena and Merlin reportedly ran away on their way to the hotel where they were quarantined in West Jakarta on May 7, 2021. The two of them took a taxi from SOETTA AIRPORT to the hotel and fled when the permit was about to go to the toilet.
During their escape, the two British citizens moved to lodgings in Bogor, West Java. They also do photography there. ODE and MM were secured by the Garuda Satreskrim Team, Soetta Airport Police in the Bogor area on Wednesday (19/5).
As a result of their actions, the two British citizens were accused of Article 93 in conjunction with Article 9 paragraph 1 of Law no. 6/2018 concerning Quarantine and / or Article 14 paragraph 1 of Law no. 4/1984 concerning Outbreaks of Infectious Diseases Article 93 in conjunction with Article 9 paragraph (1) of Law no. 6/2018 concerning Health Quarantine Article 14 paragraph (1) of Law no. 4/1984 concerning Communicable Disease Outbreaks.
The two British foreigners were eventually deported. Both will also be denied entry into Indonesia for 6 months. “Deportation and subject to deterrence may not enter again for 6 months and can be extended,” said the Head of the Special Class I Immigration Office for Soetta Airport, Romi Yudianto, when asked for confirmation, Wednesday (26 / 5/2021).
Both were transferred to the Immigration Detention Center in Kalideres, West Jakarta. MW and IDE have now been brought back to Soekarno-Hatta Airport to await their scheduled departure.
