It is easy to make yourself home in Indonesia. You feel like you belong to be part of the community to the point that making Indonesia your trip destination just no longer cut it anymore. You crave the sentiment of being a permanent resident in Indonesia and closer to the culture and the gorgeous nature. So, how to be a legit one? E-VISA Bali covers this one down below.
The significance of KITAP to Fulfill Your Dream of Being a Permanent Resident in Indonesia
Being a permanent resident in Indonesia will not be possible without KITAP but it takes a toll to achieve it. Now, what is it? Kartu Izin Tinggal Tetap (KITAP) is an official card that demonstrates your permanent stay permit in Indonesia that is valid for 5 years. However, the case will be different if a foreign national has a partner (husband/wife) from Indonesia. The validity of the permit will follow the foreigner’s guarantor, in this regard.
What does it mean to have your permanent stay visa (KITAP)?
When you travel to Indonesia so much and you have to make countless trips to the immigration office, it might be very time-consuming. Being a permanent resident gives you more breather to be away from all the cost and money you spend on visa extensions and handling the administration at the immigration office so you can just focus on comfortable living.
How to obtain your Permanent Stay Permit (ITAP)
There are two ways in which you can receive the permit. These include status transfer from ITAS or you can be considered a permanent resident under several conditions, such as:
- Status transfer from ITAS, to get your ITAP by this method, you need to at least:
- Stay in Indonesia for more than 3 years consecutively
- Marry an Indonesian citizen for at least 2 years
- There are several conditions that determine your immediate eligibility to own ITAP such as:
- If you are an ex-subject child of dual citizen
- You are a child of an ITAP holder born in Indonesia
- Ex-Indonesian citizen who lost his/her citizenship in the Indonesian territory
To apply for ITAP, go to izintinggal-online.imigrasi.go.id or head to the Indonesian immigration office. For general requirements, you are going to need to prepare:
- Passport
- ITAS
- Domicile letter
- Integration statement
Specific requirements may be necessary depending on your purpose for staying in Indonesia. A foreign worker should submit an IMTA permit issued by The Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia. Moreover, if you are married to an Indonesian citizen, you need to attach an excerpt of the marriage certificate translated by a sworn translator.
