Indonesian Passport Information
According to UU No. 6 of 2011, Indonesian passport is a document given by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia to Indonesian residents that allows them to travel between countries for a certain period of time.
The passport grants the holder access to any country in the world and is valid for a period of 5 years. The passport contains the holder’s photo, name, date of birth, place of birth, nationality, and other identifying information.
According to the Guide Passport Ranking Index, the Indonesian passport is now rated 70th among global passports. The Indonesia passport rating is based on the level of global admission it provides to Indonesian passport holders, who may travel visa-free to 73 countries but need a visa to visit the remaining 129.
Type of Indonesia Passport
Ordinary passport
This passport is issued by Directorate General of Immigration, Ministry of Justice and Human Rights. The passport contains either 24 or 48 pages and is valid for 5 years.
Diplomatic passport
This passport is issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Indonesian subjects functioning as diplomats and/or government officials to travel for diplomatic purposes.
Service passport
This passport is issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Indonesian citizens working as public servants on official travel
Hajj passport
Previously, the Ministry of Religious Affairs distributed hajj passports for the haji pilgrimage to Mecca. However, the necessary legislation was removed by the new government. As of Hajj 2009, all Indonesian hajj pilgrims use ordinary passports.
