If you want to visit Indonesia for business, you may need to apply for an Indonesia business visa. Indonesia offers both single-entry and multiple-entry business visas.
Foreign nationals who want to go to Indonesia for meetings, conferences, business deals, or other relevant activities are granted a business visa. However, you are not permitted to work for or be hired by an Indonesian company.
People must apply for a work permit rather than a business visa if they want to go to Indonesia to do a contracted job or receive payment.

Single and Multiple-Entry Business Visa in Indonesia
In general, a business visa in Indonesia allows you to remain for up to 60 days and can be extended for another six months.
However, a single-entry business visa holder in Indonesia must extend their visa as soon as it expires. They do not need to leave the country since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic and can extend their visa through an onshore application.
On the other hand, a holder of a multiple-entry business visa has a distinct advantage because this form of visa does not place a limit on the total number of times that the bearer may remain in the country each year.
Documents requirements for business visas
You must prepare the following papers when applying for an Indonesian business visa:
- filled-out application for an Indonesian visa
- Valid passport for at least six months from the date of entry into Indonesia
- a passport photocopy
- Passport-size photo with the following specifications
- Dimensions: 3cm x 4cm or 4cm x 6cm
- White background
- Taken within three months
- The face must be fully visible
- No headgear is allowed unless it is for religious purposes
- Copy of round-trip or onward travel ticket
- Cover letter for a business visa from a company, organization, or institution. The letter must include the entire address and phone number of the company/organization/institution, as well as the number of days and entries requested.
- Invitation letter from the company, organization, or institution that you will be visiting in Indonesia. The letter must include the company’s full location and phone number, the number of days and entries you are asking for the visa for, and whether they are responsible for your accommodation and maintenance charges.
- You must provide proof that you have paid the visa fee.
- If you are seeking a multiple-entry business visa in Indonesia, you must receive a visa authorization letter from the Directorate General of Immigration. This must be obtained on your behalf by the sponsor in Indonesia.
- You must give a copy of your valid residence permit/visa if you are not a citizen of the country in which you live.

How to Apply for a Business Visa
- To learn about any special restrictions, contact the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate. Some may need an appointment, while others may accept applications through mail.
- Collect the necessary papers for an Indonesian business visa.
- You must pay the visa charge.
- Submit the documents in person or by mail to the Indonesian Embassy or Consulate.
- Wait for your application to be processed by the Embassy or Consulate.
Assume you’re seeking a business visa with numerous entries. In such a scenario, you must have a sponsor who must apply to the Directorate General of Immigration in Jakarta for a Letter of Visa Authorization.
Business visa extension
Before the existing visa expires, you must extend your business visa at the Indonesian Immigration Office.
The extension charge will be the same as the original visa fee, and you can ask for extensions for 30-60 days up to four times.
You do not need to apply for an extension if you have a multiple-entry fee. If you come without a visa and stay for more than 30 days, you must pay a cost of around USD 70 for each day you overstay.
Business visas can only be used for certain activities. If you want to engage in business activities that the business visa does not permit in Indonesia, you may consider applying for a work permit.
